A Time where Violence, Sexual Assault, and Food Insecurity have created one of the Worst Humanitarian Crises

Date Published: April 20, 2021

A time where rebel groups and military forces have led some of the worst human rights violations. The situation in Tigray has revealed some of the most alarming rates of food insecurity and sexual assault allegations, which have been used as a weapon of war in the region. The United Nations must uphold the appropriate Security Council Resolutions to address the severe human rights violations in the region and call for Emergency Relief.

To date, the lack of a UNSC pronouncement through a Security Council resolution or Presidential Statement on Tigray represents a grave vacuun in our global leadership and united commitment to act decisively and swiftly when allegations of rape and other forms of gender-based violence are systematically reported in conflict zones.
