On Sunday 3rd July in the context of Navi Pillay,‘s visit to the Spanish capital on the occasion of her visit as President of the International Commission against the Death Penalty, whose annual meeting is attended in person by ten of the 23 commissioners who make up the panel of eminent personalities internationally recognised for their activism and exemplary work in favour of the abolition of the death penalty.
During her visit to Madrid, Navi Pillay, former High Commissioner for Human Rights, currently a member of GWL Voices, met with the President and member of GWL Voices, Susana Malcorra,, where they were able to exchange views on the issues that most impact women and the state of the multilateral system.
Navi Pillay has warned about the increase in violence against women around the world and the obligation of organisations and governments to establish mechanisms to address this global scourge.
