Anita Bhatia is the Founder of Impact Commons, a strategic advisory and consulting firm dedicated to mainstreaming & advancing gender equality in organizations through an interdisciplinary approach. In addition, she is a Visiting Fellow at Kings College London.

From 2019 to April 2023 she served as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women.

Prior to that she had a long and distinguished career in sustainable development at the World Bank Group serving in many senior leadership positions. Recognized as a thought leader, she is a sought-after speaker and frequent commentator on gender equality, gender financing, and impact investing. She holds a BA in History from Calcutta University, an M Phil in Political Science from Yale University and a Juris Doctor in Law from Georgetown University.
