Why the Ortega Regime must stop the Brutal Crackdown Against Political Dissidents and Protestors

The Ortega regime has authorized brutal measures to erode political opposition against his presidential campaign. The detainment of protestors and presidential candidates displays that democratic elements within the state have reached a nadir – which has already been steadily decreasing since Ortega’s rule. To preserve the democratic leanings that have been fought for in the state, we urge the international community to call for the release of political opponents and to allow for a free and fair election in the November period.
